Transfer of Credit in Early Childhood Education Program, 1996-97

The following table provides an overview of current credit transfer arrangements associated with the Early Childhood Education Diploma program. The modular format developed for the distance education delivery method, is derived from the competencies and learning outcomes of the full-time program. The distance program provides for students to work through an individualized education plan for their course work, with the assistance of a tutor. This self-paced program provides the flexibility which assists students in managing their studies with their work and family responsibilities. There is an on-site requirement to complete three summer institutes for practical workshops, seminars and field placement.

In order for acceptance into the distance program, students must have completed minimally two years of formal work experience in an early childhood setting. Students may choose to take a Portfolio Development Course and challenge for prior learning assessment credits based on the learning acquired through work/life experiences. This course is designed for the mature adult learner, and the experienced early childhood educator.
