The Honourable Derek Bennett, Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Municipalities, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Pinware River Cottage and Access Road (Reg. 2110)
Proponent: Mr. Denis O’Dell
The proponent is proposing to construct a recreational cottage approximately 2 kilometres north of the Town of Pinware. The cottage will be constructed on-site or installed as a prefabricated structure and will require installation of a septic system, well and generator or solar panel. An existing access road off the Trans-Labrador Highway (Route 510) will also be extended to access the proponent’s cottage site application and Quit Claim. A portion of the existing road that currently crosses a bog will be removed and the new access road will avoid this area.
The undertaking was registered on November 26, 2020; the deadline for public comments is January 1, 2021; and the Minister’s decision is due by January 10, 2021.
Trout River – River Dredging (Reg. 2111)
Proponent: Town of Trout River
The Town of Trout River is proposing to dredge a portion of Trout River to mitigate a decrease in water depth that has resulted from sediment deposition. The proposed area is 450 metres long, and extends from the Riverside Drive Bridge to the government wharf at the mouth of the river. Construction is set to begin upon project approval.
The undertaking was registered on November 27, 2020; the deadline for public comments is January 1, 2021 and the minister’s decision is due by January 11, 2021.
