The environmental assessment process requires proponents of mining projects to describe the anticipated impact of their project on businesses and employment in the province. A provincial benefits plan may be required as part of the approval process. The environmental assessment process is managed by the Department of Environment and Conservation. More information on the process can be found on the Environmental Assessment section of that department’s web site.
